As members of this community and concerned
citizens,
we have begun a
program to assist our soldiers in Iraq. Particularly, we have
adopted the 55th MAC 5th unit. Michelle Caron is a BHS employee, and
her son Seth is a member of that unit. We are asking for donations,
both monetary and of needed items. These men and women often live
without electricity, running water and environmental controls.
They live with extreme temperatures and harsh conditions on a daily
basis. Doing laundry, showering, staying in touch with family and
general comforts are sometimes non-existent.
Any help you can offer will
be greatly appreciated by the soldiers and their families here in the
United States. We have an account set up to receive monetary
donations: Checks can be made payable to “BHS Iraq Aid” and can be sent
to (or dropped off at) Brunswick High School, 116 Maquoit Rd,
Brunswick, ME 04011.
A list of items needed by our soldiers includes: underwear (boxer
briefs, in all sizes), socks, disposable razors, shaving cream/gel,
baby wipes (for quick washing in between showers), chap sticks, body
wash/soap (Old Spice and Axe are popular), pre-paid phone cards.
The following list includes items that will make these men and women
more comfortable and help create a more homey feel to their
quarters: DVDs, music or comedy CDs, magazines, posters, balls
(football, soccer, etc.), running shoes (sizes will be coming soon!),
and pre-paid VISA cards for use when the troops get to a PX. Any
supportive cards and letters will help boost morale and raise
spirits. Holiday lights and decorations will help too.
Thank you in advance for any help, we truly appreciate your kindness
and generosity.
